Independent Central Alberta Retailer Launches Ag-Technology Joint Venture

Central Alberta – August 24, 2011 – Independent crop-supply retailer Andrukow Group Solutions Inc. has come together with precision agriculture company Seven Islands Agriculture Inc. to form a new venture, Point Forward Solutions Inc.

The partnership brings together seventeen AGSI and Partner retail locations across Alberta, and agronomist Colin Bergstrom, who’s Seven Islands Agriculture provided precision agriculture consulting for growers across north central Alberta.

Point Forward Solutions Inc. was formed from a need to bring together innovative technology services that enhance a grower’s ability to implement a specific agronomic plan on their farms, taking into account comprehensive soil test analysis, topography, variable rate planning, and plant nutrition application strategies.

“This is an exciting time in our industry.   The proper use of agricultural technology is going to play a critical role moving forward.  We see Point Forward Solutions as a way to add tremendous value to the services we offer. Point Forward Solutions aims to work collaboratively with growers to provide custom agronomic plans based on existing variability in their fields.  Agronomist and Point Forward Solutions co-founder Colin Bergstrom explains:

“Precision agriculture technology allows us to take an in-depth look at the production variability in a grower’s field.  From that, we can develop a detailed application plan in terms of seeding rate, fertilizer application, and so on, and advise them on how to optimize their yield potentials and make educated and precise input and product choices that best suit their specific needs.”
